The mission of Prevention Network is to help Michigan communities prevent underage alcohol use, youthful tobacco use, and other substance abuse.
Prevention Network a statewide organization of volunteers and professionals, supports substance abuse prevention and related efforts in Michigan, provides services which build the capacity of diverse grassroots groups to carry out effective local solutions, and coordinates statewide awareness and advocacy initiatives.
Prevention Network recognizes the autonomy and diversity of individual groups. It is comprehensive in its make-up, embracing a variety of points of view and methods for preventing alcohol, tobacco, and other drug problems.
Prevention Network provides a structure through which the effectiveness of community groups is increased and common goals can be identified and achieved.
Prevention Network was organized by community groups and professionals with the support of Michigan's Office of Substance Abuse Services [as it was then named], which has funded the program since 1984.
Prevention Network is administered by Prevention Michigan Inc., with funding provided through the Michigan Department of Community Health/Bureau of Substance Abuse and Addiction Services, The Skillman Foundation and Private Contributions.
