SUMMARY:Virtual Co-Occurring Disorder (COD) Series: Caffeine and COD
DESCRIPTION:Virtual Co-Occurring Disorder (COD) Series: Caffeine and COD\nJoin us for a new workshop learning series on the challenges facing individuals struggling with COD. This series will explore how substances of abuse and mental health concerns impact each other. Each session will offer community providers a deeper understanding of providing integrated care to support and foster overall all health and well-being. \nThis one-hour workshop will explore the intricate relationship between caffeine consumption and adult mental health\, covering how excessive intake can worsen conditions like anxiety and insomnia\, and lead to withdrawal symptoms such as headaches and fatigue. It will also discuss how caffeine can mimic symptoms of mental health disorders and how it may interact with psychiatric medications. Participants will learn to recognize the signs of a problematic relationship with caffeine and gain strategies for more moderate\, healthier consumption to support overall mental well-being. \nWho Should Attend: This event is sponsored by the adult mental health block grant and is intended for persons who serve adults only struggling with severe mental illness and/or COD receiving services that are community-based/outpatient setting (does not include substance use disorder (SUD) providers\, inpatient\, or residential treatment\, parents of children who are primary recipients) that is funded by a community mental health service provider (CMHSP) or is a contractor of a CMHSP in the state of Michigan. It contains content appropriate for CEOs\, COOs\, clinical directors\, supervisors\, case managers\, support coordinators\, therapists\, crisis workers\, and nurses. Hours can count toward Integrated Dual Disorder Treatment (IDDT) annual refresher. \nThe Michigan Department of Health and Human Services\, through the Community Mental Health Association of Michigan has provided funding for this initiative through the Federal Community Mental Health Block Grant.

SUMMARY:Logic Models and Evaluators: Power Tools for Evaluation
DESCRIPTION:Logic Models and Evaluators: Power Tools for Evaluation\nStarts: Jun. 17\, 2026 11:00 am\nEnds: Jun. 17\, 2026 12:30 pm\nPrevention practitioners are doing critical work in their communities\, but clearly demonstrating outcomes can be a challenge. This session will help participants to use the tools at their disposal to better measure outcomes and tell the story of their work. Participants will learn how their logic models can help them connect strategies to measurable results and identify the “right” data to collect to demonstrate progress. The session will also explore what it looks like to work with an evaluator\, including when to engage one\, how to find the right fit\, and how to build a strong\, collaborative partnership. Whether participants are new to evaluation or looking to refine their approach\, they will leave with practical\, actionable strategies to capture and communicate impact more effectively. \nThis webinar builds on the webinar Logic Models Unlocked: Your Blueprint for Prevention Success presented on March 9\, 2026.  A strong foundational understanding of logic models is necessary as we will discuss evaluation planning and considerations.  All registrants are encouraged to have attended the March 9 webinar or viewed the recording available on the Great Lakes PTTC website. \nLEARNING OBJECTIVES \n\nExplain how logic models can be used to guide evaluation and measure outcomes\nIdentify appropriate outcomes and indicators based on their logic model\nIdentify key considerations when selecting an evaluator\nDescribe characteristics of an effective working relationship with an evaluator

SUMMARY:Virtual Co-Occurring Disorder (COD) Series: Addiction Cycle Basics for Mental Health Providers
DESCRIPTION:Virtual Co-Occurring Disorder (COD) Series: Addiction Cycle Basics for Mental Health Providers\nJoin us for a new workshop learning series on the challenges facing individuals struggling with COD. This series will explore how substances of abuse and mental health concerns impact each other. Each session will offer community providers a deeper understanding of providing integrated care to support and foster overall all health and well-being. \nMental health practitioners should understand the addiction brain because it is a complex and subtle system that influences behavior and decision-making. Addiction is not just a matter of willpower but involves a deep\, almost primal urge that feels as though it arose from outside conscious control. This understanding is crucial for developing effective treatment plans that address the biological\, behavioral\, and psychological components of addiction. By recognizing the brain’s reward system and its role in addiction\, practitioners can provide more targeted and effective interventions that support recovery and prevent relapse.
