Meet The Team


Prevention Network programs are operated by a small staff and the efforts of its Board Members, both volunteer and professional. Board Members are community volunteers and persons working in systems, disciplines and organizations concerned with substance abuse prevention and related issues. Prevention Network includes a Lansing Office, the Detroit office, FDA inspectors and youth decoys around the state, and the Board of Trustees


Ken as been working at Prevention Network since 1998, but was promoted to Executive Director in 2008 by the Board of Trustees. In his free time, Ken enjoys spending time with his wife, Jodi, and two sons. They are very active across the state with their friends and extended families. As a family, they enjoy spending time outdoors and visiting Michigan's many beaches, campgrounds, and parks.

Mike is a husband, father, and grandpa, who in addition to spending time with family, enjoys fishing, reading, walking, and playing chess. His primary roles at PN include being the Undercover Buy Supervisor for Michigan's Tobacco Compliance Check Program, MCRUD Coordinator, and chair of the ISAP policy workgroup.

Kristine has been with Prevention Network since September 2000. She started as a data entry clerk, and she was quickly promoted, as a program assistant. She does a fantastic job with any task you put in front of her. She has been promoted, as the Program Coordinator for  Parenting Awareness Michigan. She likes decorating and loves being around her family and friends.

Louise coordinates the Michigan Higher Education Network, working with professionals across the state interested in alcohol and other drug prevention at their college or university. She has a background in higher education and enjoys working with the college student population. Louise also enjoys exploring new places, being active, traveling, and playing board games with friends in her free time.

Joyce came to Prevention Network in December of 2010. She started as the part-time accountant and quickly became full-time. Joyce maintains the bookkeeping duties of all of the grants, foundations, and discretionary monies. She has an Associate's Degree in accounting from LCC and worked in the for profit automotive world for about 30 years. Her main interests are family, grandchildren, her flower beds, and family history.

Lisa is a lifelong Detroiter. She has a BS in Psychology from MSU and an MA in Applied Social Science from EMU. She has held many positions serving youth and families in Detroit for over 20 years. In her role as a consultant, Lisa has managed the Community Connections Grant Program for over 6 years, and more recently the Detroit Neighborhood Partnership East Grant program. She volunteers with Self Development of People (SDOP) and has served as a decision maker for various grant making programs. Her trajectory is a natural extension of being an involved resident liaison and connector in Detroit communities. She enjoys traveling, researching, word games, and spending time with family and friends.

Kayla is a permanent fixture in community settings, providing technical assistance to grant applicants and encouraging grantees to think about next steps. Her free time is divided between pursuing her Master’s degree in social work and attending music concerts.Kayla serves on the board of the local Self-Development of People (SDOP) committee.

Kathy is eagerly waiting for your call or e-mail to provide assistance and answer questions at the Detroit office.  New to the grant program, she is looking forward to helping upcoming projects to succeed.  Her time will be divided between evaluation and program support activities.  Kathy has a background in research and evaluation, mental health, and advocacy.  She believes in the power of strength-based approaches.  Her interests include writing and spending time in nature.
