Building Sustainable Prevention Systems
Building Sustainable Prevention Systems
Sustainability has always been a centerpiece of our prevention work, but it is often overlooked. Even traditional sustainability models have centered on static plans created near the end of a funding cycle with an eye toward sustaining programs through existing funding sources. In today’s prevention landscape change can happen rapidly and unexpectedly. Prevention professionals need to be prepared to make decisions quickly. Sustainability now looks less like a fixed long-term plan, and more like a dynamic, responsive way of considering your work at all times. Prevention work requires us to be flexible, adaptable, and focused on community partnerships.
This training will offer practitioners an opportunity to reframe sustainability as an ongoing process of change and decision-making by integrating prevention science, practical funding strategies, and change management approaches while emphasizing sustainability throughout the grant life cycle and Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF). The training will be interactive and include large and small group discussions. Participants will be expected to have their cameras on with a working microphone to engage in this interactive training to learn and share with their peers.
