This presentation will provide a broad overview of what data driven decision making is and why it is important to use data for making programmatic decisions. The process of data driven decision making will be discussed, including the types of data available and the pros and cons of the different types of data. Secondary data sources will be presented from both the local and state levels and attendees will engage with the presenter in an interactive walk-through of accessing data in a few secondary data sources.

Webinar Objectives: 

  • Describe what data driven decision making is, why it is important, and what it can be used for.
  • Describe how data driven decision making is done relative to program goals and who the target audience is.
  • Identify at least three types of data that can be used to make decisions, available data sources and considerations for selecting data.
  • Identify at least two available secondary data sources at the state and local levels and navigate a few selected examples.
