Cannabis (Marijuana)
Cannabis Use Disorder is a brain disease characterized by persistent cannabis-seeking and/or cannabis-taking behaviors, causing clinical and functional impairment, such as health problems, disability, and failure to meet major responsibilities at work, school, or home (DSM-5).
Prevention programs strengthen protective factors by addressing those most at risk with accurate information about cannabis, articulate the potential consequences of misuse/abuse, and offer activities unrelated to using. To find the right program for your community, check out SAMHSA's Resource Center.

The Michigan Higher Education Network (MIHEN)
The MIHEN provides colleges and universities the tools, resources, and support to launch alcohol and drug misuse prevention and recovery programs on their campuses. This page provides information for substance use prevention and behavioral health among college students.
Goal: To create a community of professionals from Michigan colleges or universities interested in connecting and networking about underage drinking and prescription drug misuse prevention.

The goal of the MIHEN is to create a group of individuals from Michigan colleges or universities interested in connecting and networking about underage drinking and substance misuse prevention. We currently have 53 colleges and universities participating in the MIHEN.
By becoming a member of the MIHEN, you are part of a dynamic community that supports you and your goals. Your participation gives you access to:
-
A contact list and an e-list of other professionals in higher ed interested in prevention efforts
-
Inclusion in at least three networking meetings each year (teleconference and face-to-face)
-
Current research, resources, evidence based practices, and support in implementing new programming at your school
