Advocacy

This article discusses the benefits of hosting a site visit to strengthen relationships with decision-makers in a more informal setting. The purpose could be to discuss a policy your PTA wants to change or to showcase your PTA’s advocacy successes. Decision-makers can be found at various levels of government and school administration, including elected or appointed officials. At the federal and state level, this could include legislators or staff from education agencies, while at the local level, it could be school administrators, school board members, superintendents, principals, or teachers. Site visits are particularly valuable for engaging state and local officials who may be less familiar with your school.
